How to Renew Road Tax when Car Owner Has Passed Away?

Problem in Renewal of Road Tax

A lot of Malaysians face problem in renewing the motor vehicle's road tax via JPJ ("Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan") counter or myeg online when the car owner has passed away after the database linkage has been done between JPJ and JPN ("Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara"). Prior to the database linkage, the road tax is renewable.

How to renew the road tax now?

If car owner has passed away with a Will, engage a lawyer to apply grant of Probate from the High Court
If car owner has passed away without a Will, engage a lawyer to apply for Letter of Adminsitration (LA) from the High Court or a distribution order from the Land Office.
With the Probate/ LA, you can then renew the road tax.
